Seachem MultiTest - Ammonia is a top of the line water testing kit designed for use in both freshwater and saltwater aquariums. The kit will test the water and measure the total (NH3 and NH4+) and free ammonia (NH3 only) down to an exceptionally precise 0.05 mg/l and is virtually interference free in both saltwater and freshwater aquarium environments, making it safer for all aquatic inhabitants. For better understanding, it is free ammonia that is the toxic form of ammonia (instead of Ionized ammonia (NH4+) which is non-toxic) and because of this it is significantly more important to keep an eye on the level of free ammonia in your aquarium system.

Using Seachem Sensor Technology, this kit is based on the exact same gas exchange technology that is used in the Seachem Ammonia Alert and therefore is the only kit available today that can read precise levels of free ammonia while using ammonia removal products such as Seachem Prime, Seachem Safe, Seachem Amguard or any similar competing products. The other kits on the market, those being either salicylate or nessler based, determine the total levels of ammonia by raising the pH of the test solution to 12 or greater. At this high of a pH, all ammonia removal products (such as the ones listed above) will breakdown and re-release the ammonia, thus giving you a false ammonia reading and negatively impacting the aquarium.

Unlike many of the other kits that are available on the market, the chemical basis for Seachem MultiTest assures that interference from other substances inside of the aquarium is highly unlikely, leading to a more precise and accurate reading of ammonia. As well, included with the kit is an opaque multi-cavity test plate with six individual cavities that allow aquarists to test and compare several samples at the same time. Additionally, the simple, easy to read color chart features a 5-centimeter viewing window that makes identifying the specific reading of the test hassle free. As well, though it is not needed to use this kit, Seachem MultiTest includes a reference sample to allow aquarists to verify if there results are as accurate as they should be. Comes with 75 tests.
